Seminar – Sustainable Wood Protection & Availability of Essential Tools – Perspective of end-users on the EU renewal of Propiconazole (PT-8)

Dear member,

We are pleased to send you the invitation for a seminar that will take place next week, Tuesday 24 May from 15h00 to 17h00.

Propiconazole is undergoing the re-approval process at EU level.

Due to its classification, it is eligible to be re-approved only under the derogation criteria under Article 5.2 of the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR, EU Regulation 528/2012), but needs a positive opinion from the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) Biocides Product Committee (BPC), following a first positive assessment of the national evaluating competent authority (eCA) Finland, in charge of the preliminary assessment which concluded that the criteria for an approval of Propiconazole under Article 5.2 are fulfilled.

The workshop is geared towards providing an overview of the downstream value chain of Propiconazole users within the broader context of a holistic and sustainable approach to wood protection vis-à-vis authorities and selected interested parties, playing a key role within the next milestones of the ongoing process.

Mr Fredrik Westin, director of the Swedish Wood preserving Association will be one of the speakers and he will focus on the importance of the European wood preservation segment towards reaching the goals set within the EU Sustainability Goals.
